# How to Install Indicators on TradingView

> Step-by-step instructions for adding free (public) and premium (invite-only) QuantNomad indicators to a TradingView chart.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **General TradingView information.** This section describes standard TradingView behavior, not a QuantNomad-specific feature. TradingView updates its interface regularly, so menu names and positions may differ slightly from what you see. When in doubt, check the [TradingView Help Center](https://www.tradingview.com/support/).

QuantNomad indicators are TradingView scripts. How you add one depends on whether it is a free (public) or premium (invite-only) script.

> [tab] Free indicators
>
> Free indicators are published as public community scripts. Anyone with a TradingView account can add them.
>
> **1. Open a chart**
>
> Sign in to [TradingView](https://www.tradingview.com/) and open any chart (**Products → Supercharts**, or open a symbol and select **Full chart**).
>
> **2. Open the Indicators dialog**
>
> Click **Indicators** in the top toolbar, or press <kbd>/</kbd> on your keyboard.
>
> **3. Search by name**
>
> Search for the indicator: type the indicator name into the search box. Community scripts are listed alongside built-in indicators. Make sure the author shown is **QuantNomad** — similarly named scripts by other authors are common.
>
> **4. Add it to the chart**
>
> Click the result once. The indicator is added to the active chart and the dialog stays open, so close it when you are done.
>
> **5. Save it to Favorites (optional)**
>
> Hover over the result and click the star icon. It then appears under **Favorites** in the Indicators dialog and in the favorites toolbar.
>
> You can also add a public script from its page on TradingView: open the script page and click **Add to favorites** (or the equivalent button), then find it under **Favorites** in the Indicators dialog.

> [tab] Premium indicators
>
> Premium indicators are **invite-only** scripts, available to accounts with an active subscription. They don't reliably appear in search, so start from the script page.
>
> **1. Confirm you have access**
>
> Invite-only scripts can only be used by TradingView accounts with access, for example through an active Paid Space subscription. Make sure you're signed in to that account. See [Premium Indicator Access](https://docs.quantnomad.com/support/premium-access.md).
>
> **2. Open the script page**
>
> Open the script's page on TradingView while signed in and click **Add to favorites** (the star button).
>
> **3. Open the Indicators dialog**
>
> On any chart, click **Indicators** in the top toolbar, or press <kbd>/</kbd>.
>
> **4. Find the script**
>
> Select **Favorites**. Invite-only scripts you have access to are also listed in the **Invite-only** section of the dialog.
>
> **5. Add it to the chart**
>
> Click the indicator to add it to the active chart.

## Working with the indicator on your chart

Once added, the indicator's name appears in the top-left corner of the chart pane (the *status line*). Hover over it to see the controls:

| Control | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Eye** icon | Shows or hides the indicator without removing it |
| **Settings** (gear) icon | Opens the indicator's inputs and style settings |
| **Remove** (×) icon | Removes the indicator from the chart |
| **More** (…) icon | Additional actions, such as adding an alert on the indicator |

> [!TIP]
>
> To keep your configuration, save the chart layout (**Save** in the top toolbar). You can also save your preferred inputs as defaults from the **Defaults** button at the bottom of the indicator's settings dialog.

## Common installation issues

> [accordion] I can't find the indicator in search
>
> * For free indicators, check the spelling and confirm the author is **QuantNomad**.
> * For premium indicators, search does not help: open the script page and add it to your favorites, or use the **Invite-only** section. See [Premium Indicator Access](https://docs.quantnomad.com/support/premium-access.md).

> [accordion] TradingView says I've reached my indicator limit
>
> TradingView limits how many indicators you can have on one chart, depending on your plan. Remove an unused indicator, or check your plan's limits on [TradingView's pricing page](https://www.tradingview.com/pricing/).

> [accordion] The indicator is on the chart but shows nothing
>
> The indicator may need more historical bars to calculate, may be hidden (eye icon), or may be attached to a different pane or price scale. See [Troubleshooting](https://docs.quantnomad.com/support/troubleshooting.md).
