# UT Bot Suite Features

> Detailed documentation for every UT Bot Suite feature: UT Bot Pro's stop, entry, exit, and HTF engines, backtesting, and dashboard, and the Ultimate UT Bot Screener.

UT Bot Suite includes two scripts. This page documents each feature, with links to the settings that control it.

## UT Bot Pro

UT Bot Pro is an advanced version of the original UT Bot. The original compares price with an ATR-based trailing stop to identify trend changes. UT Bot Pro keeps that core, and splits the logic into separate, configurable engines.

### Stop Engine

The trailing stop is the foundation of UT Bot. UT Bot Pro lets you choose how volatility is measured:

| Stop engine | How volatility is measured |
| - | - |
| **ATR** | Average True Range: the classic UT Bot approach. Default. |
| **Smoothed ATR** | ATR with additional smoothing, for a less reactive volatility estimate |
| **StdDev** | Standard deviation of price, instead of true range |
| **Historical Volatility** | Standard deviation of logarithmic returns, converted to a price-based measure |

The volatility measure is multiplied by the **Stop Multiplier** to set the trailing stop distance.

**Settings:** Stop Engine, Source, Stop Multiplier, Volatility Period, ATR Smoothing. See [Stop Engine settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#stop-engine).

### Adaptive Multiplier

Instead of one fixed multiplier for the whole chart, the multiplier can adapt to market conditions using an **Efficiency Ratio**.

The Efficiency Ratio compares directional price movement with the total distance price traveled over the period. Clean, directional movement gives a high reading. Noisy, back-and-forth movement gives a low reading. With adaptive mode on, UT Bot Pro adjusts the multiplier between a configurable minimum and maximum.

This doesn't predict future volatility or direction. It changes how the trailing stop responds to the structure of recent price movement.

**Settings:** Use Adaptive Multiplier (off by default), Efficiency Ratio Length, Min Mult, max Mult. See [Adaptive Logic settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#adaptive-logic).

### Entry Engine

UT Bot Pro separates the UT trend state from the method used to trigger an entry.

| Entry mode | How an entry triggers |
| - | - |
| **Classic Close** | Price closes across the trailing stop: the traditional UT Bot approach. Default. |
| **Close + Buffer** | Price must move an extra, configurable distance beyond the flip level before the entry is confirmed. Reduces sensitivity to marginal crosses. |
| **X-Bar Confirmation** | The new trend state must hold for a number of consecutive confirmed closes after the flip |
| **Touch / Stop Order** | The trailing stop level is used as an order trigger, without waiting for the close |

These modes aren't ranked from worse to better. They're different trade-offs between responsiveness and confirmation.

**Settings:** Entry Mode, Buffer Type, Buffer, Confirmation Bars. See [Entry Engine settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#entry-engine).

### Higher-Timeframe Confirmation

An optional filter calculates the UT Bot state independently on a higher timeframe. When enabled:

* Long entries require a bullish higher-timeframe state.
* Short entries require a bearish higher-timeframe state.

The HTF state is calculated directly on the higher timeframe with the same stop methodology. It isn't a resampled copy of the lower-timeframe signal. Optional background shading shows the current HTF regime on the chart.

**Settings:** Use HTF Confirmation (off by default), Higher Timeframe, Show HTF Background. See [HTF Filter settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#htf-filter).

### Exit Engine

Exits are configured separately from entries, so you can research them independently.

| Exit mode | How a trade closes |
| - | - |
| **Opposite Signal** | Holds the position until an opposing UT signal. Default. |
| **TSL Stop** | Uses the active UT trailing stop level as the position's stop |
| **TSL Stop + R:R Target** | Trailing stop plus a profit target set as a multiple of the initial trade risk |

For example, you can compare a classic UT reversal strategy with one that exits at the trailing stop, or one that also takes profit at a fixed reward.

**Settings:** Exit Mode, Risk / Reward. See [Exit Engine settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#exit-engine).

### Strategy and Backtesting

UT Bot Pro is a TradingView strategy, so every configuration can be evaluated on historical data in the **Strategy Tester**. A configurable date range lets you test specific market periods instead of the whole chart history.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Backtests are research tools, not predictions. Results vary significantly with symbol, timeframe, market regime, execution assumptions, fees, slippage, and parameter choice. Set realistic commission and slippage under **Settings → Properties**.

**Settings:** Use Backtest Date Range, Start Date, End Date. See [Backtesting Range settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#backtesting-range).

### Display and Dashboard

Each visual element can be turned on or off independently of the strategy logic:

* Buy/sell markers
* Trend-based bar coloring
* Trailing stop line
* HTF background
* Status dashboard

The **dashboard** is a compact table showing the current UT state and configuration: current trend, trailing stop value, stop engine, multiplier, entry mode, and higher-timeframe state.

## Ultimate UT Bot Screener

The Screener shows UT Bot signals and backtest results for **up to 40 instruments** at once, in a single customizable table, for the selected timeframe.

### Market scanning

Choose up to 40 symbols and the UT Bot parameters to apply. The Screener calculates UT Bot signals and metrics for each symbol on the selected timeframe.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The Screener has its own UT Bot inputs (**Key Vaule** and **ATR Period**). It doesn't read UT Bot Pro's settings, so set both scripts consistently if you use them together.

### Columns

The first column is always **Symbol**. Choose up to five more from these 13 data columns:

| Column | Shows |
| - | - |
| **Price** | Last price of the instrument |
| **UT Signal** | Last UT Bot signal. The value in square brackets is how many bars ago it fired. |
| **Move To Revert** | The price move needed on the current bar for the UT Bot signal to change |
| **Revert Prob** | An estimate of the probability that UT Bot reverts on the current bar |
| **Trade History** | The last five trade outcomes, as green (profit) and red (loss) squares |
| **Total Trades** | Total number of UT Bot strategy trades in the available history |
| **Current P\&L** | P\&L of the open trade |
| **Trade Avg P\&L** | Average P\&L of the last X trades |
| **Trade Prof** | Percentage of profitable trades in the last X trades |
| **Profit Factor** | Profit factor of the last X trades |
| **Net Profit** | Total net profit of the last X trades |
| **Max DD** | Maximum drawdown over the last X trades |
| **Avg Bars in Trades** | Average trade duration, in bars, over the last X trades |

"X" is set by the **Trade Number** setting. See [Screener settings](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/settings.md#ultimate-ut-bot-screener).

### Filtering and sorting

Each data column can be filtered by a minimum and maximum value, and the table can be sorted by any column. Cells that match a filter can be highlighted. See [Screener filters](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/signals.md#screener-filters).

### Alerts

The Screener can send alerts listing the matching symbols, with or without their values. See [Alerts & Automation](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/alerts.md#ultimate-ut-bot-screener-alerts).

### Visual customization

Table position, size, and colors (titles, cells, text, positive and negative values, highlighted cells) are all configurable.
