> Reference for every UT Bot Pro and Ultimate UT Bot Screener input: description, default value, and practical usage notes.

To open a script's settings, hover over its name in the chart's status line and click the **Settings** (gear) icon. Setting names below match the labels in TradingView exactly, including a few original spellings.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Verified against the published script versions on TradingView as of November 2026. If a setting in your version differs, check the [changelog](https://docs.quantnomad.com/changelog/ut-bot-suite.md).

### Stop Engine

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Stop Engine** | Volatility model for the trailing stop: `ATR`, `Smoothed ATR`, `StdDev`, `Historical Volatility` | `ATR` | `ATR` matches the classic UT Bot. See [Stop Engine](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/features.md#stop-engine). |
| **Source** | Price used for trailing stop calculations | `close` | Other options: open, high, low, hl2, hlc3, hlcc4, ohlc4 |
| **Stop Multiplier** | Distance of the trailing stop, as a multiple of the volatility measure. Higher values create wider stops and fewer trend flips. Minimum 0.1. | `1` | The main sensitivity control. With **Use Adaptive Multiplier** on, the multiplier varies between **Min Mult** and **max Mult** instead. |
| **Volatility Period** | Number of bars used to calculate volatility | `10` | Shorter reacts faster; longer is smoother |

### ATR Smoothing

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **ATR Smoothing** (method) | Moving average used to smooth ATR: `RMA`, `SMA`, `EMA`, `WMA` | `EMA` | Applies to the **Smoothed ATR** stop engine |
| **ATR Smoothing** (length) | Smoothing length, in bars (the number field next to the method) | `10` | Longer values give a less reactive stop |

### Adaptive Logic

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Use Adaptive Multiplier** | Varies the multiplier with the Efficiency Ratio instead of using a fixed Stop Multiplier | Off | See [Adaptive Multiplier](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/features.md#adaptive-multiplier) |
| **Efficiency Ratio Length** | Bars used to measure trend efficiency. Higher readings mean cleaner directional movement. Minimum 2. | `20` | |
| **Min Mult** | Lowest multiplier the adaptive logic can use | `0.8` | |
| **max Mult** | Highest multiplier the adaptive logic can use | `2.5` | Keep above Min Mult |

### Entry Engine

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Entry Mode** | How entries trigger: `Classic Close`, `Close + Buffer`, `X-Bar Confirmation`, `Touch / Stop Order` | `Classic Close` | See [Entry Engine](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/features.md#entry-engine) |
| **Buffer Type** | Unit for the buffer: `Volatility`, `Percent`, `Ticks` | `Volatility` | Used by **Close + Buffer** |
| **Buffer** | Distance price must move beyond the UT Bot flip level | `0.25` | Used by **Close + Buffer**. Step 0.05. |
| **Confirmation Bars** | Consecutive confirmed closes required after a UT Bot trend flip. Range 1–20. | `2` | Used by **X-Bar Confirmation** |

### HTF Filter

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Use HTF Confirmation** | Only take entries that agree with the higher-timeframe UT state | Off | See [HTF Confirmation](https://docs.quantnomad.com/premium-indicators/ut-bot-suite/features.md#higher-timeframe-confirmation) |
| **Higher Timeframe** | Timeframe used for confirmation | `240` (4 hours) | Choose a timeframe higher than the chart's |

### Exit Engine

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |

| **Risk / Reward** | Take-profit distance as a multiple of the initial risk | `2` | Used by **TSL Stop + R:R Target** |

### Backtesting Range

| Setting | Description | Default | Usage notes |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Use Backtest Date Range** | Only trade between the start and end dates | On | Turn off to use all available history |
| **Start Date** | First date of the backtest | 2020-01-01 | |
| **End Date** | Last date of the backtest | 2030-01-01 | While the range is on, strategy orders stop after this date |

## Working with settings

* **Save your configuration** with **Defaults → Save as default**, or by saving the chart layout.
* **Recreate alerts after changes.** Alerts keep the settings they were created with.
* **Change one thing at a time** and compare results on the same chart. See [ATR and Signal Sensitivity](https://docs.quantnomad.com/guides/atr-sensitivity.md).
